SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The South Bend chapter of Moms Demand Action are calling for an end to gun violence after returning from a conference in Washington D.C.
They held an impromptu protest on Sunday in response to the mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton, as well as the recent shootings in South Bend and Dowagiac.
In D.C., the group met with other chapters of Moms Demand Action in order to discuss the impact of gun violence.
Anngi Lynch and Kathy Lovett, two members of Moms Demand Action, emphasized how important it is for everyone to come together on this issue.
“It doesn’t have to be this way,” Lynch said. “Gun violence is not inevitable.”
“We need everyone's voice,” Lovett said. “We need everyone to step up. This country is better than this our community is better than this.”
Moms Demand Action will take part in the National Night Out events held in South Bend, Elkhart and Mishawaka during the first week of August.
