South Bend community donates blood at Grace UMC
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend Clinic is offering a free full body skin cancer screening on June 20 for the community to try and attack this disease in its early stages.
Ahead of the screening event, ABC57's Sidney Moore spoke with Dr. Miles Andrew about how to curb the chances of getting this form of cancer.
It is important to note it doesn't have to be hot outside to see high UV levels. Cloudy, cool days can also cause sunburn because UV rays are measured by the sun's angle and altitude.
Make sure to protect your skin by wearing SPF sunscreen or protective clothing if outside for longer periods of time.
It's also important to make sure to re-apply sunscreen often to ensure you're being protected from the rays.
South Bend Clinic's free skin cancer screening will be offered on June 20 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the first floor dermatology department at 211 N. Eddy Street, South Bend.
