South Bend councilman resigns
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend Council member Randy Kelly submitted his resignation from the council on Friday.
Kelly released the following statement:
"Effective immediately, I am stepping down from my seat as the South Bend Common Council representative for the 3rd District. My decision to resign is for personal reasons which led to me to move outside the boundaries of the 3rd district.
It’s been a privilege to serve the people of South Bend and the 3rd District and a pleasure to work with my fellow council members and everyone who works for the City of South Bend. "
Kelly's resignation is effective immediately.
The St. Joseph County Democratic Party will hold a caucus to fill the seat.
The caucus will be February 24th at the UAW Hall Local 5 in South Bend 11 a.m.
The elected council member will fulfill Kelly's term, which expires on December 31, 2019.
