South Bend Fire Department hosts pill drop-off

SOUTH BEND — Hundreds of people drove through the South Bend Fire Department station today for a pill drop-off Saturday afternoon.
The event's purpose was to provide a place to collect old and unneeded medications.
"We take unwanted medicines and we get them away from people who shouldn't be having them as well as it's a good thing to do for the environment," said Barbara Brownell, Triad chairman.
Just today, hundreds of pounds of drugs were collected.
