SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- The Civil Rights Heritage Center held a “Best. Future. Ever.” event on Sunday. The event coincided with the city of South Bend’s “Best. Week. Ever.”
South Bend children were treated with stories, live music, and activities that encouraged them to think about their future.
“We want to not just look at just this week. We want to look at all of the weeks. We want to look at the weeks now but in the years to come,” said George Garner, Interim Director of the Civil Rights Heritage center.
Organizers hope that today’s event will allow kids to build on what they learned today to guide them to their bright future.
“I don’t know how much longer those of us who are already here are gonna be here. They’re the ones that are going to be inheriting all those weeks. They’re gonna be the ones that are going to be living them and we want to do the best we can to help them make those weeks the best ever,” said Garner.
