SOUTH BEND, Ind. - An open house took place Thursday to showcase affordable housing in South Bend.
South Bend Heritage hosted the open house in an effort to bring awareness to affordable housing in the area.
"We want to show folks in South Bend the opportunities that are available for affordable homes in existing neighborhoods already," said Director of Home Ownership Stephanie Ball.
Four homes were included in the self-guided tour. Two of those homes are still under construction. They are expected to be finished by the end of summer.
Ball said she hopes this tour can help find some families interested in making an offer on these homes.
"South Bend has some great neighborhoods and this is just an opportunity for us to showcase what we do in the neighborhoods," Ball said.
Although the tours were self-guided, staff was at each location to give information and answer questions.
