South Bend man sent to prison for weapons charge following police chase
Quervo Taylor SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The United States Attorney’s Office Northern District of Indiana announced 26-year-old Quervo Taylor, of South Bend, was sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to Being a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
Taylor was sentenced to 6 years and 10 months in prison followed by 2 years of supervised release.
Case documents state police attempted a traffic stop on Taylor, at which point he continued driving, leading to a pursuit.
The chase lasted about a half hour, and police say Taylor reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour.
Documents state Taylor also crashed into a patrol vehicle.
Taylor was arrested at the South Bend International Airport where he was stopped by a barrier arm.
Authorities say they located two loaded firearms which were thrown from the suspect vehicle.
One of the guns was found to have a machinegun conversion device. Both guns had extended magazines.
Documents reveal Taylor is felon and was prohibited from possessing a gun.
Taylor's criminal history includes prior felonies for Carrying a Handgun Without a License within 500 feet of a School, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Resisting Law Enforcement.
