Man sentenced 18 years for carjacking, gas station robbery, on top of 100-year murder sentence

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The United States Attorney’s Office Northern District of Indiana announced 20-year-old Quadir Quiroz, of South Bend, was sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to Hobbs Act robbery and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.

The Hobbs Act, codified as 18 U.S.C. § 1951, prohibits robbery and extortion that affects interstate or foreign commerce.

Quiroz was sentenced to 18 years in prison followed by 3 years of supervised release.

Documents in the case state Quiroz robbed a person at gunpoint before stealing their car. Ten days later, documents state he robbed a gas station in South Bend.

During that robbery, Quiroz struck a gas station employee in the head with his gun.
