SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A South Bend park has a new name -- one you'll probably recognize.
Monday afternoon, city leaders including Mayor Pete Buttigieg, dedicated Governor Joe Kernan Park to the city.
What was once Viewing Park on Northside Boulevard, has a new look and renamed in honor of Kernan the former governor of Indiana and mayor of South Bend.
"This is just a great thing, I’ve got so many people to thank for everything I’ve done, you’re only as good as your ball club is what my dad always said it’ll be true today, it’ll be true tomorrow and I’m just blessed with a bunch of great people,” said Kernan.
The former mayor says he plans to live in South Bend the rest of his life.
