SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- For the first time, the City of South Bend’s Venues Parks and Arts (VPA) hosted a New Years Eve drone show Tuesday evening at Howard Park’s Ice Trail & Pond.
The 125 synchronized drones put on a 15-minute light show, going over the highlights from 2024 and welcoming the new year.
Venues Parks and Arts Chief Development Officer, Amy Roush, said they worked with The Chicago Drone Light Show to put the drones in the sky.
“It’s the same organization that we used for Fusion Fest! So, they were more than willing to come back and do a secondary show with us,” said Roush.
She went on to say VPA decided to do a drone show so anyone could look up to the sky and watch for free.
“Our purpose as an organization, as part of South Bend, is to be able to provide either free, or at extremely low cost, ways for families or individuals to come out and enjoy the spaces that we all reside in,” said Roush.
