SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD) is announcing a potential rate increase across all fares of 10 percent, rounded to the nearest quarter.
The public is invited to comment on the proposed increase during a 30-day public comment window that ends at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 9.
SSL officials say the general public may comment in person at the public meetings, via email to [email protected], or mail their comments to the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District, 33 East U.S. Highway 12, Chesterton, Indiana 46304.
"If approved, the new fares would take effect on July 1, 2025, for the South Shore Line rail passenger service including July monthly tickets," an SSL spokesperson said. "The new fares would apply to all stations."
The NICTD Board of Trustees is scheduled to act on the fare increase on Monday, May 19.
