'Speaker Series: South Bend's Forgotten Tragedies' at Studebaker Museum
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Studebaker Museum invites the public to hear about "South Bend's Forgotten Tragedies" as part of the Speaker Series on March 20.
Presented by Aaron Helman, author of "An Incomplete History of St. Joseph County and Ride the Jack Rabbit", Helman will explore forgotten tragedies that have touched South Bend.
The list of local tragedies includes what was once the worst railroad accident in the US, an unsolved downtown bombing attack, and the ecological devastation of one of the largest swamps in North America.
Helman is an author, historian, humorist, as well as being described as an adventurer and taco enthusiast.
Helman is also a graduate of LaSalle High School.
The event is at 1:30 p.m. in the Wiekamp Auditorium on Wednesday, March 20.
Admission is $2 but free to Studebaker National Museum members and campus members.
Organizers will have refreshments available following the event.
