Spider causes Jeep to crash into NIPSCO pole, driver sent to hospital

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the area of C.R. 21 and C.R. 46 for a single-vehicle crash on Monday around 12:15 p.m.

The report states a 2016 Jeep Patriot, driven by a 69-year-old New Paris woman, was traveling north on C.R. 21 approaching C.R. 46.

The driver told authorities she noticed a spider on her at which point she drove off the road to the east before striking a mailbox before crashing into a NIPSCO pole.

The driver was taken to Goshen Hospital for complaints of abdomen, back, and wrist pain.
