NOW: St. Joseph County Library hosts job fair Thursday

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Over a hundred people attended a quarterly job fair Thursday put on by the Northern Workforce Board at St. Joseph County Public Library.

“Today we have what is our quarterly job fair we bring in local companies and try to connect them with the talent that’s in the region,” said President and CEO of the Northern Workforce Board Tom Kavanagh.

Job seekers from around the area gathered to find a new career path.

“I’m honestly like an open market I like jobs like this sustainability environmental area, but I am looking to open my horizons and scout everything out today,” said job hunter Christian Hawkins. “I just heard from the adult education corporation over there. I found that interesting. They sound like they have some good offers and benefits. I just did just get here, but I see there’s a lot of opportunities to check some out.”

Over 300 job hunters were expected to be in attendance to chat with over 30 employers.

“Today we have small businesses to larger companies there are banks, manufacturing companies, healthcare companies that are here from the local area looking for employees," Kavanagh. “We should have over 300 jobseekers come to the job fair today and we have over 30 employers that are here. We’ve doing this job for a few years now, every quarter we try and have one here at the library.”

The next job fair is expected to be in either December 2024 or January 2025.
