St. Joseph County officials volunteering to help with lawn care at Portage Manor
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- St. Joseph County Commissioner Derek Dieter and St. Joseph County Councilman Robert Kruszynski will be volunteering several hours per week at Portage Manor to assist with lawn maintenance and they are asking the public to help.
The first volunteer session will take place on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Portage Manor, located at 3016 Portage Avenue in South Bend.
Citizens are allowed to volunteer as much time as they want to help cut the grass and do other lawn maintenance.
"We are reaching out to and welcoming community partners and volunteers to partner with Portage Manor in beautifying our grounds for the residents we serve," said Portage Manor Administrator Kortney Mullins. "We want to give back to them by enhancing the grounds through purposeful designing of our landscaping that will not only serve as an opportunity for our residents to enjoy the area but also for those in the community to get to know who we serve."
Individuals interested in helping out are asked to email Derek Dieter at [email protected] or call (574) 532-2200.
