St. Joseph County reports 592 COVID-19 cases, 19 deaths

The St. Joseph County Department of Health says 592 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported and there are six new deaths.

Four of the deaths include patients who died within the last few weeks where COVID-19 was a contributing cause of death due to xrays, scans and other clinical symptoms, but there is no positive test on record, the department said.

The department also says the CDC has expanded the list of symptoms of COVID-19 beyond the fever, cough and difficulty breathing. The full list of symptoms include:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Chills
  • Repeated shaking with chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell
