St. Joseph County to hire 200 workers for Election Day

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Need a job? There's a one-day gig up for grabs in just a few weeks.

St. Joseph County is short on Election Day workers.

The Election Board is looking to hire 200 people. Overall, the county needs about 1,600 people to work the polls.

"It's more unusual this year than it has been in the past, to try and get workers, but this year it seems to be more of a challenge. I'm not sure if maybe it's because our workforce is getting older, or maybe more people have jobs," said Terri Rethlake of the St. Joseph County Election Board.

The pay is $80 for one day of work. You also get about $5 for food.

You have to be at least 16-years-old to apply.
