SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Tuesday morning, students at St. Joseph High School unveiled their new mural project, which depicts immigration in our community.
The mural is a partnership between the high school and the University of Notre Dame.
Its purpose is to encourage a conversation in our community and raise questions about race, politics, and poverty.
"I drew feet. I drew them pigeon toed kind of just like how a child would stand. They're only wearing one sock to show the poverty in what they're coming from," said Liam O'Conor, a senior at St. Joseph High School.
The mural is also used to help teach art and culture during Spanish language courses at the high school.
