St. Mary's College greets international students at ice cream social

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- On Monday, St. Mary's College welcomed 20 international students to their campus and our country.

It's all part of a program sponsored by the State Department.

The goal is to educate undergrads about women in U.S. politics, history, and leadership.

Women from all over the world are jumping at the chance to learn more.

"Burma, Myanmar, Egypt, Libia, Tunisia, Mongolia," said Mana Derakhshani of St. Mary's College. "We're hoping to provide these young women with the tools that they need to go back to their country and make a difference."

Students will be paired with mentors and be able to experience campus life before touring other parts of our country.
