Stolen vehicle crashes into The Firing Pin gun shop and suspects steal several firearms
NILES, Mich.--- A truck crashed into a gun shop, Firing Pin, Tuesday morning. Dispatch received a call around 4:14 a.m. at the store's location on the 300 Block of North Fifth Street.
The Niles Police Department sent out a press release stating that they searched the gun shop and found that several firearms were stolen. Police said the shop's owners are taking inventory to see how many guns were taken.
According to officials, it seems that there were several suspects involved and the car they were in was stolen from a Niles resident who left their keys in the unlocked truck overnight.
Barber shop owner, Eric Williams, said it’s time for the community to come together to help prevent such robberies from happening again.
“People in the community will band together and get an old school neighborhood watch or the business neighborhood watch,” said Williams. "Maybe it’ll detour some thieves.”
Multiple people in the area said this wasn’t the first time the gun shop got robbed and or had an attempted robbery. They said overall a stream of robberies have occurred in the area.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and a cash reward will be given to anyone who can help find the suspects.
At this time the case is still under investigation.
