Storm damage in downtown South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- ABC 57 was in the heart of downtown South Bend when severe weather rolled through Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Strong winds and heavy rain hit the city around 1 a.m.

We ran into one man who was caught out in the storm.

"It makes me feel wet and gloomy and (not) cared for. I don't know if the people up there care for us or not. I'm out here in the rain, without an umbrella," said South Bend resident Willie Samuels.

Once the sun came up Tuesday, we saw a stoplight ripped out of the ground near Michigan and South Streets.

Debris still litters many city streets.

Stop lights are out all across the city.

Treat those lights as a four-way stop.
