SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Studebaker Lofts on Main Street in downtown South Bend officially opened Tuesday morning.
South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg cut the ribbon for the Studebaker Lofts.
The lofts are on the top six floors of the historic JMS building.
There are 13 different floor plans and offer one, two and three bedroom units.
"In order to really have a healthy, vibrant downtown you need people to work and some people to live downtown," Buttigieg said. "What we're seeing is that especially the one bedrooms they seem to be flying off the shelves."
The renovation cost approximately $8 million.
