Sunday with Santa coming to First Presbyterian Church
First Presbyterian Church ELKHART, Ind. -- On Sunday, December 7, from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. First Presbyterian Church of Elkhart invites the community to a new celebration of the Christmas season.
Sunday with Santa will give children a chance to decorate and eat cookies, make a Christmas ornament, and have their picture taken with Santa. The photos will be emailed to children’s parents or guardians at no charge.
Adults, as well as children, will enjoy seeing and learning about the magnificent stained glass in the sanctuary, and hear a special Santa story. A variety of nativity scenes will be on display for all to enjoy.
First Presbyterian Church member Jon Sherry will portray Santa Claus. Jon looks and acts the part well, with a snow-white beard that he allows to grow longer for the Christmas season. Jon is a graduate of the Charles W. Howard Santa Claus School in Midland, Michigan, which is the longest-running Santa school in the world.
Jon used to tell his children, “When I grow up, I want to be Santa Claus.” One Father’s Day, his three daughters and son decided to help Jon become a student at the Santa Claus School. Jon’s dedication to his Santa role has been fun for his kids.
