SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department Reports a suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with an armed robbery stemming from a Facebook Marketplace transaction in South Bend.

Police say on Thursday, around 8:40 p.m., the victim reported she'd just been robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot of the Charles Black Community Center on W. Washington Street.

The victim said she planned to meet a man known on Facebook as “Travis Hunter” to sell her PlayStation 5 after arranging the deal on Marketplace.

The two agreed on a different location before the buyer asked the victim to meet at the Charles Black Community Center.

The victim said when she arrived, the buyer pulled up and appeared to be the same man as seen on the Facebook profile.

That's when the victim said the buyer pulled out a handgun and aimed it at her chest.

The suspect then ordered her to give him the items. The victim complied and the suspect drove off.

The victim showed police the Facebook Marketplace messages between the two but discovered the "Travis Hunter" account had been deleted or blocked the victim.

A collaboration between SBPD and their Real-Time Crime Center Analysts, led to the suspect vehicle’s license plate being identified, which ultimately led officers to a residence a few blocks away.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Dontrell Pierce, was detained as the investigation continued.

Officers then applied for and executed a search warrant on the house and vehicle.

In the vehicle, police found a handgun and holster. Inside the home, officers found video game accessories matching the description of the items the victim reported stolen.

Officers also found a second handgun hidden in the home.

Pierce was arrested and taken to the St. Joseph County Jail.

On Friday, the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office charged Pierce with Armed Robbery, Pointing a Firearm, and Unlawful Carrying of a Handgun.
