Teen hitches a ride on a whale shark

MIAMI -- A video of a Florida teen who hitched a ride on the back of a shark is making the rounds on social media.

That massive creature is a Whale Shark and is one of the most gentle sea creatures.

It is the world's biggest fish, the size of a school bus.

The teen spotted it and hopped on for a nine-second ride but not everyone is happy about the video.

"When people spend a lot of time and a lot of pressure on a fish, it takes away that slime covering and potentially has negative health impacts for the fish," said marine biologist Bruce Neil.

While some people are upset, what the teen did is not illegal.
