Teen starts petition for gender-neutral toys

It is okay to go against societal norms. That is what one teenager said after noticing Hasbro's Easy Bake Oven comes in one color: pink.

Thirteen-year-old McKenna Pope wanted to give her brother, Gavin,  the oven for Christmas. But was upset that the toy is marketed to girls, not boys.

So she started a petition to do away with gender-specific toys.

"He should know that it's okay for him to go against societal norms and gender roles," said Pope.

And child psychologists agree.

They said that kids need to be presented with gender neutral toys so that they will not face limitations with their jobs later in life.
