SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The 24th Annual Cops Cycling for Survivor's fundraiser has made its way to South Bend. Police officers from all over the state gathered in Plainfield to begin their journey and will travel 1000 miles over the course of 13 days, landing back in Indianapolis.
Today cyclists traveled from Merrillville to South Bend, ending the night in Mishawaka as they approach the halfway mark through their journey.
This organization aims to help the families of officers killed in the line of duty. One rider with the Notre Dame Police, Tim Reiter, has been a part of this organization since 2003.
He says the purpose of his participation in this yearly journey is because, “three Mishawaka police officers died in the line of duty during my term of service.”
