The Wall That Heals opens to the public Thursday

NOW: The Wall That Heals opens to the public Thursday

The Wall That Heals was installed at the St. Joseph Cemetery Wednesday afternoon and will be open to the public on Thursday.

The replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial will be open to the public from Thursday until Sunday at the cemetery, located at 24980 State Road 2.

Along with the wall is a mobile Education Center.

The panels are made of a synthetic granite and weigh about 80 pounds each. [View a time lapse of the assembly in the videos above]

“There’s only 2 individuals that come with the wall itself. The site manager myself and my assistant. So it’s the community that has done all of the work. It’s the community that’s going to staff that this week, and it’s the community that will get the most benefit from this," Site Manager Vic Muschler said.

The wall will be open 24/7 through Sunday at 3 p.m. when the wall will be disassembled.
