SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The YWCA joins forces with South Bend and Mishawaka officials alongside local restaurants to present the city’s proclamation and announce October as the official month to raise awareness for domestic violence.

“The city of South Bend Indiana herby proclaimed October 2024 as Domestic Violence awareness month in South Bend and encouraged all citizens to show solidarity by raising awareness showing support to the survivors and coming together to create a violent free future for everyone.” said Davis.

The YWCA is one of the leading providers in our area to promote domestic violence services, they will be distributing educational material at local restaurants for the community to pick up at their convenience.

Over a dozen local restaurants have partnered with the YWCA on this initiative not only to provide special menu discounts but to spark the conversation around a critical issue that also affects victims of abuse in the workplace.

To donate to a great cause, 11 local restaurants are offering specials on some menu items such as 10 percent off wine and cocktails for a cause starting at $1 off cocktails and glasses of wine.

You can find a list of helpful programs and specials on the YWCA website.

If you happen to visit one of the local restaurants use the hashtag #Dineforchange to help spread the word in the community.
