Traffic stop leads to one arrested for multiple felony drug charges
EPD: Andrew Armstrong ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Prosecutor's Office has filed formal charges against a 44-year-old man who was arrested following a traffic stop where officers recovered drugs and a gun on Oct. 30.
The Elkhart Police Department reports an officer made a traffic stop on a Lincoln Navigator around 11:50 p.m., Oct. 30, for having a headlight out near the intersection of W. Lusher Avenue and 13th Street.
Police say the odor of raw marijuana was emanating from the vehicle.
Due to the odor, police conducted a vehicle search which revealed the presence of suspected marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, and a handgun.
Police say they recovered about 35.5 grams of methamphetamine, 35.1 grams of marijuana, and 8.1 grams of cocaine.
The suspect, identified as Andrew Armstrong of Osceola, was arrested and taken to Elkhart County Jail on Halloween morning.
Armstrong is charged with Dealing in Methamphetamine: Possession with Intent, 10 grams or more, a Level 2 Felony, Dealing in Cocaine: Possession with Intent, Between 5-10 grams, Enhancing Circumstances, a Level 2 Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, a Level 4 Felony; and Dealing in Marijuana: Possession with Intent Between 30 grams-10 pounds, a Level 6 Felony.
Armstrong's bond was set at $250,000.
