UPDATE: Victims identified in fatal crash involving truck and horse-drawn cart, investigation ongoing
ABC57 UPDATE: The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office announced it's continuing the investigation into the fatal Feb. 20 crash involving a pick-up truck and horsedrawn cart.
Authorities have identified the truck driver as 40-year-old Jason Hoover.
The two children killed in the crash have been identified as 8-year-old Jenna Miller and 7-year-old Derek Bontrager.
The report states the pony pulling the cart also died in the crash.
The other children seriously injured have been identified as 11-year-old Miciah Miller and 13-year-old Jayden Miller.
Authorities say there are currently no updates on the status of Miciah and Jayden at this time.
ORIGINAL STORY: ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to S.R. 4 just west of C.R. 37 around 8:05 a.m., Friday, for a crash involving a horse-drawn cart and pick-up truck.
Authorities' initial investigation determined a truck traveling west on S.R. 4 struck the rear of the horse-drawn cart, carrying four juveniles.
Two juveniles were taken to Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
The other two juveniles were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Elkhart County Crash Investigation Team is conducting the investigation.
