NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The 5th annual Run Forrest Run 5K/10K will be held Saturday morning on campus at the University of Notre Dame and virtually across the nation.

The long-running tradition has attracted over 489 on-campus runners as well as virtual run participants from approximately 26 states.

Runners will take their mark at 9:30 a.m. at the south Library Quad and north stadium entrance passing by Notre Dame University’s Golden Dome, ‘Stonehenge', St. Mary’s Lake, Thomas A. Coleman Firehouse, Touchdown Jesus and Notre Dame Stadium.

At the conclusion of the event, there will be post-race celebrations with awards and food.

All proceeds from the race will benefit the Gary Sinese Foundation whose mission is to honor veterans, first responders and their families through unique programs aimed to build, uplift, educate and engage communities.

GSF founder, Actor Gary Sinese, is best known for his role as Lt. Dan in the movie “Forest Gump.” He says, “Freedom and security are precious gifts that we, as Americans, should never take for granted. We must do all we can to extend our hand in times of need to those who willingly sacrifice each day to provide freedom and security. While we can never do enough to show gratitude to our nation’s defenders, we can always do a little more. “

So far the event has raised over $55,000 for the service community.
