UPDATE: Security guard brutally beaten, no suspects in custody

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Three months ago, a security guard was brutally beaten at the Marathon gas station on Lincolnway West and Adams, since then, no arrests have been made.

"Here we’ve got a guy on camera, clear as day, with ten witnesses and you can't catch him?" Aaron Durham, friend of the victim said.

But police say it is not that simple.

"Just by looking at it, if that person did a wardrobe change you would never be able to pick them out at all," said Captain Phil Trent of the South Bend Police Department.

Police say a detective was assigned to the case, but now the case is closed, pending new information.

"It makes me feel like the police think it is not important." said Durham.

Durham fears that with the loss of the victim, police will not fight for an arrest.

Police said it is harder to solve a case when the victim is dead

"The case is still a mile away from submitting it to the prosecutors office." said Trent.

Family and friends of the victim want justice.
