Vigil held for 4-month-old Halo

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Family and friends gathered Thursday for a vigil to honor 4-month-old Halo Stutzman who died July 12.

Police responded to a call at a house on Dubail July 10th and when they got to the home, Halo wasn’t breathing. She was taken to the hospital and died two days later.

“It really takes a toll on my heart,” said Pastor Michael Elliot.

There were tears and moments of silence, as family and friends came together to say goodbye Halo.

One close friend tried to talk about the last time she saw Halo but was too overcome with emotion to finish her story.

Halo’s mother, Dominique Stutzman, was also too emotional to talk.

“You think of all the things they’ll never experience. Good, bad, joys, sorrows the whole gamut of life. I mean that’s been taken away from this child,” Elliot said.

The family is holding a memorial Sunday, August, 17th from 12 to 6 p.m. at Bendix Park. There will be food, games and a DJ.

Police have arrested Halo Stutzman’s father, Bryan Michel, for neglect of a dependent causing death.
