ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – Wreaths Across America was held on Saturday nationally and locally in Mishawaka to commemorate those who served the Nation.
The event is held on December 14 every year in the United States.
In Mishawaka, volunteers helped lay over a thousand wreaths on headstones of veterans at the Fairview Cemetery
"I mean it's just an amazing effort. Something like, one-point-eight million wreaths laid at this particular time by probably close to two million volunteers. And it just is enlightening and encouraging and it's done out of the deepest respect as far as honoring our veterans,” said Kent Laudeman, Retired Lt. Col of the US Army and Veteran Advocate.
Members of the Boys Scouts and John Adams Air Patrol also participated in the event, and organizers hope next year more wreaths will be donated to honor those who served.
