Walkerton will begin flushing fire hydrants Wednesday

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – The Town of Walkerton Water Department will begin flushing fire hydrants on Wednesday through Thursday.

Water flushing takes place from 5 am to 3:30 pm.

Residents might expect a drop-in water pressure and discoloration in water during flushing. This is only temporary and isn’t a problem with water.

If you see that your water is discolored, the department asks that you turn on an outside faucet to clear the water line before doing any laundry or cleaning.

The Walkerton Water Department will continue to monitor water during this time to make sure it is safe to drink. Flushing is an important part of the maintenance of the system.
