Woman charged with Bribery, Trafficking with an Inmate at Westville Correctional Facility

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- Court documents from La Porte County reveal 34-year-old Jessica Chalupa, an Aramark Kitchen Supervisor, has been charged Bribery, a Level 5 Felony, and Trafficking with an Inmate, a Misdemeanor, after authorities received an anonymous tip.
Authorities say on Aug. 28, an anonymous tip came in that caused reason to believe Chalupa was working with an incarcerated individual to traffic contraband into the Westville Correctional Facility.
The investigation also found reason to believe Chalupa was receiving money via Cash App as compensation for bringing in contraband.
Screenshots of 18 Cash App transactions, suspected to have been for contraband, show Chalupa received a combined total of $10,725.
When asked if she received payment to traffic contraband into the facility, Chalupa stated no. When questioned further, she stated she received the money for gas and food.
Chalupa was asked if she would consent to search of her cellphone, to which she agreed. She then stated she had two cellphones but would only allow investigators to search the one she speaks to her husband on.
The report states when asked why Chalupa threw her hands up and stated, "Whatever do both."
Chalupa was read the Consent to Search Digital Device Waiver which she signed giving consent to search both phones. Chalupa provided the passwords for both devices.
Chalupa was then read the Consent to Search for her vehicle. Chalupa again agreed, signing the waiver, allowing this department to search her 2021 Nissan Altima.
Evidence was collected which revealed a phone number believed to belong to an unauthorized cellular device possessed by an inmate.
Investigators also found a photo of Chalupa holding a wad of cash in front of her Nissan's steering wheel.
Chalupa was arrested and taken to the La Porte County Jail.
