Rose was convicted in January of both counts of Criminal Recklessness Committed with a Deadly Weapon. On Tuesday, she was sentenced to 60 days in jail and 36 months of probation. Rose will have her license suspended for 365 days and must complete a BMV-approved driver's safety program. She is eligible to have her suspension lifted early after 180 days have passed.
Rose was captured on camera in March of 2025 passing a stopped Penn-Harris-Madison school bus on the passenger side, just as two children were boarding the bus, nearly hitting them.
Rose admitted to police that she was the driver after they positively identified the vehicle. She told police she turned around after her son had unstrapped himself from the car seat, then when she looked forward again, she noticed the bus and was unable to stop.
During her sentencing Tuesday, the prosecution sought the maximum sentence for each charge which is 2.5 years. The prosecution argued Rose did not show remorse for her actions. During a statement afterwards, Rose said she does feel remorse for her actions but has not expressed that publicly due to fear of threats. She also does not feel that her felony charges are fair and told the court she plans to appeal her conviction. A public defender was appointed to Rose for that purpose.
