14 new corrections officers to begin service in Elkhart county

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- 14 new corrections officers will take their oaths on Monday, and be officially sworn in by Judge Stephen Bowers, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office.

Officers will begin their service to the community at 4 p.m. in Elkhart Superior Court two.

Corrections officers to be sworn in include:

Corrections Officer Kimberly Calix graduated in June of 2022 from West Noble High School. She started her career on October 10th, 2022 with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

Corrections Officer Austin Centers graduated in June of 2016 from Career Academy South Bend. He started his career on September 26th, 2022 with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

Corrections Officer Michael Clayton was a corrections officer with Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office from 2000 to 2012 and returned to his career on September 26th, 2022 with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

Corrections Officer Karlos Connett graduated in June of 2013 from R. Nelson Snyder High School, Ft. Wayne, IN. He started his career on September 26th, 2022 with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

Corrections Officer Erica Contreras started her career on October 3rd, 2022 with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

Corrections Officer Dylan Fry graduated in May of 2022 from Northridge High School. He started his career on September 26th, 2022 with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

Patrol Officer Tre Gibson graduated in May of 2021 from Calumet College of St. Joseph with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He started his career on September 19th, 2022 with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

Corrections Officer William Glassford graduated in June of 1991 from University High School in Orlando, Florida. He started his career on October 3rd, 2022 with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

Corrections Officer Andrew Holloman graduated in July of 2021 from Elkhart High School. He started his career on August 15th, 2022 with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

Corrections Officer Justin Kunkle graduated in June in 2012 from Elkhart Memorial High School. He served in the Army National Guard from 2010 to 2018. He started his career on September 6th, 2022 with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

Corrections Officer Thomas Mercer graduated in June of 2020 from Northridge High School. He started his career on October 3rd, 2022 with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

Corrections Officer Michael Phillips graduated in June of 2016 from Valparaiso High School. He started his career on August 15th, 2022 with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

Corrections Officer Laura Villagomez graduated in June of 2019 from Elkhart Central High School. She started her career on September 6th, 2022 with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

Corrections Officer Omar Zavala graduated in August of 2007 from Midwest Theological Institute High School, Chicago, Il.. He started his career on October 3rd, 2022 with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.
