Witnesses share video from police confrontation at Central Park

MISHAWAKA, Ind. — ABC57 received video from a community member Monday of a confrontation between a Mishawaka police officer and what appears to be a teenage boy. The video was taken Saturday night during the city's 4th of July celebration at Central Park.

The man who captured the scene, Timmy Billheimer, says he saw teens spraying strangers with water guns throughout the night.

He heard a commotion near the park's 'comfort station' and saw the teen in the video allegedly spray a father and son with his water gun multiple times.

Billheimer says police stepped in soon after. He lost sight of the confrontation for a moment, and then saw the so-far unidentified officer taze the young man.

Billheimer's recording, which starts seconds after the alleged tazing, shows the officer throwing what appears to be a handgun on the ground, before he picks it back up moments later.

ABC57 found a piece of a "Ultra MK" water gun at the scene Monday, in the exact spot where the videos were taken.

Separate videos shot by Billheimer also show police arriving on motorcycle, and the teen writhing on the ground in pain.

ABC57 has reached out to the Mishawaka Police Department multiple times since the incident occurred, but has received no details on the situation or narrative as to what happened from the officer's point-of-view.
