Americans expected to spend $490 billion on gas this year

UNITED STATES -- According to a new survey, Americans are on track to spend more than $490 billion on gasoline this year.
That is $100 billion more than last year. Economists say that gas isn't like other things you can buy. When prices go up, many of us can't or won't cut back on driving.
Demand for gas continues to stay the same.
