SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Community members gathered at the St. Joe County Public Library on Tuesday to have their questions answered about the dangers of opioids and the rise in overdose deaths in the county.
The meeting was led by PHD Analytical Chemist, Marya Lieberman, who detailed the constantly changing chemical factors of opioids.
Lieberman answered pre-stated questions and also took questions from the crowd.
According to local experts, overdose death rates have risen dramatically over the last seven years at a rate of nearly triple the reported deaths in 2016.
