Anti-ICE protests outside Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS -- Pacers fans on one side, and protesters on the other.
Anti-ICE protests were in downtown Indianapolis right next to Gainbridge Fieldhouse, with hundreds of people marching through the streets, even shutting down Pennsylvania Street alongside the stadium for a few minutes.
Around 150 Indianapolis Metro Police Officers were called in to handle the protest, which remained mostly peaceful.
ABC57, speaking with one protester who says, they're tired of ICE having a presence in the circle city.
"I'm out here protesting today because we deserve rights just like everybody else does. We shouldn't be scared of our government and we they shouldn't have the right to take our rights away. If they do this now — what can they do later," stated Protester Josie Iragoyan.
The same protester, saying they ran into plenty of pushback to their demonstrations.
"Ya know there were some people in the crowd who were like cussing us out and making racist remarks — but I know I have all these people behind me. And that makes it all better, it doesn't affect me," stated Iragoyan.
