MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Officials confirm that the Mishawaka Fire Department received a call concerning an active apartment fire at the 1500 block of Steele Lane, near Fir Road, at approximately 7 p.m. on Friday.
There were no injuries to any residents or pets as a result of this fire, officials say.
Officials say that the fire spread to two floors of the complex and destroyed two apartments completely.
“Came in as an apartment fire on the backside of this building. Almost two floors involved. Crews made an exterior attack if you will, got it put out, so it didn’t spread down the apartment complex which we are thankful for," said Mike Croy, Battalion Chief of the Mishawaka Fire Department.
The fire has since been put out and some fire units have cleared the scene.
