Benton Township Police investigating shooting on Blossom Lane

BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Benton Township Police are investigating a shooting that happened early Tuesday morning on Blossom Lane.

Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Blossom Lane at 1:30 a.m. and located a man with a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

Witnesses told police two women were fighting and the victim, a 16-year-old male, was trying to break up the fight when he was shot in the shoulder.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses said a woman shot a gun into the air and a man was also seen with a handgun, reports said.

Police have not determined who fired the shot that injured the 16-year-old.
