UPDATE: 16-year-old formally charged with Murder of 19-year-old Elkhart man

UPDATE: The Elkhart County Prosecutor's Office announced on March 6, 16-year-old Emerson Oviedo was formally charged with Murder in the homicide of 19-year-old Marco Lopez Terrazas.

Oviedo's initial Hearing was changed by the court to be held at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday in Elkhart Circuit Court.

ORIGINAL STORY: ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Prosecutor's Office announced Tuesday afternoon that a 16-year-old has been arrested in connection with Monday's shooting death of 19-year-old Marco Lopez Terrazas.

The shooting occurred just before 8 a.m., Monday, in the 2600 block of Morton Avenue.

The investigation is ongoing, but the Elkhart County Homicide Unit made the arrest late Monday afternoon.

The suspect has been identified as Emerson Rodriguez Oviedo of Elkhart.

Probable cause was found for him to be arrested for Murder.

Oviedo was ordered to be held in custody without bond until his initial court hearing on Thursday.

The prosecutor's office is reviewing the case for formal charges and is set to decide by end of day Friday,
