CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- United Presbyterian Church celebrated the legacy and impact of Martin Luther King Junior this afternoon, as many speakers of all ages came to the stage to talk about MLK.
It also featured several choirs and performances, all in the theme of 'The Dream: Do we Still Care?'
"More than anything is awareness and awareness of who Dr King was and what he stood for before this generation and generations to come. For a lot of people, especially younger generations, they weren't aware of what happened in the 60s, from what our parents and maybe some of us endured, to understand truly the significance of what he did as a man of God who got into the political arena and led up people to freedom," stated Speaker Paula Mathew.
There will be celebrations tomorrow in Cass County honoring MLK, including giving away breakfast to Stone Lake Woods residents and a march that goes by the historic Cass County Courthouse.
