City of Muncie and Ball State University partner to create neighborhood park

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The City of Muncie has partnered with Ball State University to create a new park for Muncie's Anthony-Northside Neighborhood committed to fostering a positive community impact.
Ball State granted the use of land surrounding the University's Oakwood Building to develop the new public space.
The neighborhood park will provide a recreational resource for families and residents within Anthony-Northside Neighborhood.
"The project is an extension of our mission to serve our friends and neighbors in the communities we call home," said Geoffrey S. Mearns, Ball State President.
In 2016, Ball State purchased the Oakwood Building and the 10 acres of land surrounding the area from Muncie Community Schools.
"This new park will be a great asset for the Anthony-Northside Neighborhood and for families across our city," said Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour.
The City of Muncie will oversee the development and maintenance of the park, and the date of the park's official opening is to be determined.
