District officials noted some students left school premises after staff directed them to remain there.
Due to this, school officials say the parents of said students have been contacted and students are being dealt with in accordance with school policies.
This walkout adds to the growing list of local students participating in similar protests.
Concord Community Schools released the following statement:
"On Tuesday, a group of students participated in a walk-out during the school day. While we respect students’ rights to express their views, our primary responsibility is ensuring student safety.
When students leave their assigned areas or school property without permission — especially after being directed to remain — it creates a safety concern.
At Concord Junior High, a group of students left school property after being directed by administrators to remain on campus. As a result, those students are being addressed in accordance with our student conduct policies. Parents/guardians of the students involved have been contacted directly.
We are not able to share specific disciplinary consequences or individual student information."
