County plans temporary fix for Ironwood/Douglas traffic signal

A vehicle crashed into a traffic signal pole on the northeast corner of Ironwood and Douglas roads. A permanent fix will take weeks, so the county has plans for a temporary fix.

The traffic signal was damaged on December 9 and the intersection has been operating as a four way stop since then.

Because the permanent fix could take 8-12 weeks, St. Joseph County will install a temporary fix.

Wooden poles and overhead aerial cables will be used to reactivate the signal.

The work on the temporary fix is expected to begin Monday morning, December 19 and will likely be fully operational later in the day.
